About

Born in Krasnodar in Russia, Larysa spent the majority of her youth living on the beautiful Black Sea coast of the Crimea, a region that inspired many of her earlier works. Four of her most spectacular fabric sculptures are based on the theme of Jason and the Argonaut’s quest for the Golden Fleece. This legendary journey took place in what is now the Black Sea region and Georgia.

Larysa is a graduate in Fine Art. She has produced many drawings and watercolours but her true passion is working with textiles. All her tapestries are woven by hand on a vertical loom using a naturally based warp thread and woollen weft threads. Larysa has also hand carved frames for some her larger fabric sculptures.

Larysa currently lives with her husband and two sons in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. She is a member of Dewsbury Arts Group and displayed some of her works at their 2008 Spring Exhibition.
